C'est en néerlandais, mais "Le rassemblement s'est déroulé sans incident" n'est pas vraiment vrai: il y a 9 persons qui s'ont arresté après:

De staat probeert haar repressie wederom te verbergen. Na afloop van de demonstratie, die vreedzaam verliep (met een toevallig verbranden van een aanwezige Griekse vlag), besloten een groep van ongeveer 10 betogers, modieus in het zwart, om samen richting de metro te vertrekken. Er was immers niks meer te doen en iedereen keerde terug naar huis.

Halverwege de metro echter, klonk van achter in de groep "Politie! Lopen!" waarop onmiddellijk een hoger tempo werd ingezet. Achtervolgd door de Brusselse relpolitie, die hadden gewacht tot wij uit het beeld waren van zowel de media als de vele Griekse betogers. Jammer genoeg leidde de laffe aanval van de politie toch nog tot de arrestatie van bijna iedereen. Identificatie en een foto volgde, waarop iedereen onmiddellijk weer werd vrijgelaten.

Zonder aanleiding, zonder reden (de groep was zelfs niet meer gemaskerd) behalve de intimidatie en registratie van degene die opkomen voor hun medemens heeft de Brusselse politie weer een mooi staaltje van repressie getoond.

Via dit bericht komt het hopelijk toch nog aan bij de mensen die dachten dat alles zonder incidenten is verlopen. Een actie tegen politiegeweld, afgesloten met politiegeweld en onderdrukking. De ontzegging van ons recht om ons te uiten.

The state is trying to hide its repression again. There was nothing more to do and everyone returned home.

However, halfway through the subway, we heard from behind us a group "Police! Move!" we immediately used a higher tempo. I am writing this message as a complaint for the fact that the person that published this article put photos of the attendants without their consent!

I am kindly asking that the faces of the people are either covered or removed from this article.

Furthermore, it is unacceptable that the photos of the different groups of people that attended are all put together. For example, someone reading the article might have the impression that everyone accepted the burning or the flag! This IS NOT TRUE! Some attendants were there to protest the killing of the boy but without doing any direct action against nobody! This is very important as the public perception of some of these personalities will be negatively distorted because of this portayal of involvement!

I am not writing this to show that I am pro burning or against burning the flag!! This message is for the people that went there and their probable "persecution" from an unthoughtfully written article.

Please consider this message very seriously! The public perception and reputation of some of these people might be altered in a negative way!!!

I am anonymous reader that simply raises this concern. I am not going to tell you to remove 1 or 2 photos from the article... I am suggesting however that you cover all the faces (like in most indymedia web sites) for security and privacy issues.

I would also recommend that you clarify in your article that some attendants might have not participated in all actions that took place (or that where even part of the group that organized them). Furthermore, some of them left before any actions actually took place.

I am sorry but I do not think it is necessary to open a (private or public) discussion about this issue. It is as much a matter or privacy and security as it is of sound journalist practice and I believe it should be respected.

and to comment on that: Some people say that state and private media produce distorted and biased news (this is a somewhat true statement in my opinion). If, however, the mission of indymedia web sites is to show a story from the a different perspective, it should, at least, try to be unbiased, clear and very careful of the presentation of any events respecting the individual's (and collective) privacy.

I do not believe that the writer of this story had any intention of harming any of these people and what they represent. Quite the opposite (and my appraisal for that)!! Notwithstanding, I believe (as I have said) that the article shows a biased and distorted view of what actually happened.

Please consider this message seriously because it is very important for this website to not be subject of bad criticism (from other parties with agendas)... I have tried myself to provide constructive criticism for this article and I do not intend to undermine the skills of the reporters - only comment on their representation of the story in this particular article.
