Bush is not welcome in Brussels

To mark the visit of George W. Bush to Brussels in February 2005, peace, environmental and human rights organisations will be organising nonviolent protests against the criminal unilateral policies of the US President. President Bush has shown during his first term in office that he represents the single greatest threat to humanity.

In many areas of policy, Bush has chosen a unilateral direction, with the International Criminal Court, the Kyoto Protocol and the war in Iraq as the most obvious examples. President Bush is coming to Brussels in order to rebuild the links with the EU and NATO. This is not an option as along as the United States continues it's current policies. We do not want Europe to be involved in this criminal activity!

On many levels, United States policy represents a great danger to the planet:

  • Disarmament (development of new nuclear weapons; Iraq; Landmine treaty; new nuclear tests;...)
  • Human Rights (International Criminal Court; torture in prisons; attacks on civil rights in the United States, ...)
  • Environment (Kyoto Protocol; WTO dispute on use of GMO's, ...)

Protests are planned on Monday 21st February at 5pm in front of the United States embassy in Brussels. During the visit, on Tuesday 22nd February, a colourful protest will take place in Brussels. The time and location will be announced later. A number of groups continue to call for an economic boycott of selected US products in opposition to Bush's policies.

The following organisations are taking the initiative in calling for these protests: For Mother Earth, Vrede vzw, Bond Beter Leefmilieu, Greenpeace, Stop USA, CNAPD and Forum voor Vredesactie. They expect many more organisations to join the call for nonviolent protests in the coming months.

A new website has been launched to spread information about the protests: www.bushwanted.org

Bush comes to Brussels on Feb 22, 2005

Let's start preparing the demos against the bastard. He'll be at NATO in the morning, at the EU in the afternoon. Let's show our governments that his illegal war against Iraq is NOT welcome here.

    Let's prepare F22.

I allready know half of belgium's gonna be there to show him what we think about him, and i'd like to call on everybody who hates bush's guts throughout Europe, and i do mean EVERYBODY, to come to brussels the 22nd with enough people, good humour, goodwill and know-how to turn the place into Beirut!! peace out. jbk

as much as i'd like to believe that non-violent protests against this summit will help, i am sure that they won't even make it to the tv-screen. No, this time we really have to show how we feel about it, and this is a sociological reality...period

When you're sure that a peacefull demonstration wil not take the news, let's organise ourselves and we can film it in privat and sell it to the bastards for more demonstrations! (think as michael moore even if he's using it for his own pocket!) We can bring it out as a documentary and many more. Let's come together and let us talk, februari 2005 is a goal, don't miss it!

People from eastern european countries hate Bush also!!
by junona Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 at 6:56 AM

Bush is an idiot and there will be reolution in eastern europe too. people hate him form the crimes he did. maybe we are in nato but wedont want him to put troops in europe for his war which follows his interest. people die but and we protest. i am from eastern europe visiting belgium here and i will support my fellows from belgium in the protest too. just keep it in mind people we are europeans and we have to make an european power to fuck off bush completely. if he is not wanted here lets show him! they are not the best in the world but they have to be convinced they aren't.
