COLOMBIAN NATIVE COMMUNITIES15 oktober 2008 – 04:17

Since early 2008 more than 22 indigenous liders and activists have been assassinated in Colombia. The conditions of indigenous populations are worst every day, while Alvaro Uribe's regime uses Death Squads to force natives out of their sacred territories. Human rights are violated every day in the name of palm tree plantations and industrial and energetic mega-projects carried out by the government in native community's lands.

The situation reached its worst moment today, when more than 30 indigenous where injured and 1 was killed by armed force's rifle bullets during enormous protests that happened all around the country. All the Colombian native communities and "cabildos" declared themselves in state of emergency while carrying out what's left of the national "Minga" -encounter- of indigenous peoples. In the southern department of Cauca, more than 20.000 indigenous block roads and occupy private lands asking for the return of 5 people that disappeared after being taken away by the army.

ASK COLOMBIAN GOVERMENT TO RESPECT HUMAN RIGHTS BY DEMOSTRATING AT COLOMBIAN EMBASSIES!!!
