International Climate Action Day - Saturday 6 December 2008 @ Brussels

International Climate Action Day - Saturday 6 December 2008 @ Brussels

A kind of magic had happen last Saturday in Brussels. Something that really belongs to us, el pueblo, the right of express our displeasures to all political leaders in public way.

Inspired by the lifeboat-action in Bonn (2001), the Climate Coalition (70 different organisations in Belgium ) built a 15-meters long wooden coloured lifeboat where people could write a message concerning climate change and the political need for strong engagements.

The action was timed to coincide with the UN climate negotiations which are taking place during these days in Poznan, Poland. Pushed by people's arms, the big boat left Gare du Midi/Zuid St. at 14h towards Place la Monnaie/Muntplein, in the centre of the European capital. Spanish folk music, speeches and shouts for ACT NOW closed an event that deserved more participation.

Here are some fresh shoots of this fantastic action, hope you will enjoy. Act NOW!
