Police attempted to raid Christiania last night. Barricades were built and the police were pushed out of the area with rocks, bottles, fireworks and molotov. More barricades were built at the entrance to Christiania but police broke through with hundreds of riot police, tear gas, riot trucks, dogs, and a water cannon. Over 200 people were taken by police, some from their homes, violently with dogs. A tent where speeches and a concert were taking place was gassed heavily.

Police raided Christiania last night.

After a long day of demonstrations against the Canadian Tar Sands, and the issues of climate change and migration, activists have been tear-gassed and arrested by police while attending an evening party. The police appear to be trying to wear down street-level opposition through constant offensive action against activists.
