Scouts all over the world celebrate 100 years! In East Africa, a peace caravan of younger and elder scouts from Tanzania, Uganda and Kenia goes from town to town to announce the celebration of the 100 years and to bring a message of peace and hope. The motto of the Scouts is 'be prepared'.
One of the female Scouts of Uganda, named Clepatra, came with the idea of travelling with a message for peace from Tanzania, Uganda to Kenia. East Africa had suffered a lot of wars in the past years and still people suffer from the concequences. The recovery and devellopment goes very slow. Scouting is doing very much to help and encourage younger people, so that they can do something for te benefit of their society in return.
Today, 28 of june, the Peace Caravan of Scouting Kenia, Uganda and Tanzania, arrived in Tororo, a village in the South-West of Uganda. A group of Belgian Scouts, send by VECO, are in Nabuyoga, Tororo, to do workshops and games with the children of Siwa Primary School. They were delighted to attend the arrive of the Peace Caravan in Tororo.
From here, the Peace Caravan will go further to Kenia, were the will be at the Sunrise Celebration on august the first, the exact date of 100 years Scouting.
